In God’s Word, there are many encouraging promises, from the Old Testament through the New Testament. One of the things I’ve noticed is that they all come with conditions. This means that God is not obligated to keep those promises if we don’t first meet the conditions.
1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
I have preached many messages where it’s not too late to confess your sins and start over. Many good people today do not engage in God’s Promises because they feel like they have blown it. This is a lie from the devil! It’s never too late to start over and obtain the Promises God has for His children. It’s very exciting to preach a message where it’s a new day. God is more than happy to meet you where you are today… Religion will stop you from believing it’s not too late; religion has said you have to be perfect to come to God. Christianity tells you Jesus will accept you just as you are now – that’s great news!
Condition: Confess
Promise: Jesus will forgive you!
Revelation 3:20 – “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
If we open the door, then He (Jesus) will come in and have a relationship with us. Again, if we do not open the door, He is not obligated to come in. As we see here, there’s a condition and a promise. Too many people are hearing God’s Word but not answering God’s Word. Do not let one moment pass without opening the door for Jesus. You yourself might be just fine, but what about your loved ones, your friends, and your coworkers? It’s time to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In Revelation 3 to the church in Sardis, God tells them to repent and goes on to say that if they overcome, they will be worthy and dressed in white; they will not have their names blotted out of the Book of Life. The understanding again is that if they don’t repent, then they will not be worthy, and their names will be blotted out of the Book of Life. The Scriptures tell us that we can receive, but the condition is that we must ask. This tells us that if we have faith then we can see results, but the condition is faith.
I have only mentioned a few of many promises of God. As you go through the Word, you will see that ALL promises come with conditions. The good news is that we all have the free will to meet those conditions.
Condition: Open the Door
Promise: Jesus will come in
